Lesson 2: What are descriptive measures?

·        Definition:

Descriptive measures are the statistics which helps us to summaries the data often known as summary statistics. It helps us to get the meaningful insights such as summary, variability or distribution of the data.

Now we will discuss all measures of descriptives statistics one by one with the advantages and limitations of each one of them including examples which helps you to understand how we can calculate these measures using the different types of data.

Types of descriptive statistics:

There are 3 main types of descriptive statistics:

 

The central tendency concerns the averages of the values.

The variability or dispersion concerns how spread out the values are.

The distribution concerns the frequency of each value.
